On A Different Perspective
Before reaching Baguio proper, the view looks so wonderful and heavenly. The trees on the mountains kiss the clouds above. Blue, white and green collide to form a perfect horizon.
In the dark, a flickering candle looks so gracious from afar. It resembles the glow of a diamond on a black velvet.
Mona Lisa on the wall--- it's so amazing as you gaze from among the crowd. Tells so much of beauty and solace of a lady's smile. What a perfect form of art!
Drive fast... nearing... nearing...
As you reach the mountains, the trees and the clouds become closer. You can even feel them on your fingertips, but when you look around, the horizon's mystery has diminished. It becomes an ordinary sight to look at--- ordinary trees, clouds appear to be but smoke and the mountain's shape flattens.
Intently look at the candle's flare. You'll see that its flame has three dull and plain colors, white, blue and yellow or orange perhaps. The harmony is lost and it becomes nothing but light that hurts the eye.
Peer into Mona Lisa. Look at her hair --- it becomes just one of the peasants' hair. The missing eyebrow becomes more obvious and the smile becomes just an ordinary sight in the streets.
Hmm... It seems that things appear gorgeous from afar. Just like a possible high-paying job, a prospect boyfriend, maybe fame and riches you never had. We anxiously wait for the time to seize them--- not knowing that we take hold of nothing at the moment. We're empty and forever waiting.
Once we already have a grasp of them, it seems like the consequences take more than what we can gain.
Relationships lost in exchange of good salary, a boyfriend who falls short on our expectations, and the scariest of all is not knowing what to do next after the fame and glory. Still, we end up empty-handed.
Endless search is emptiness. Emptiness is a notorious killer.
Life is this moment. Each moment is a grace.
Distance has full of wonders. Nearness is a wonder in itself.
Dreams are our happiness, but happiness is everywhere.
